Adopt a Student Drive

Thank you to all of our spectacular partners who helped 214 HOW students start the

school year off right with a new backpack and school supplies!

Success in the classroom requires the right resources, but for some students in our community, school supplies are not affordable. To help give students the tools they need to succeed, HOW is hosting an Adopt-a-Student school supply drive, now through August 15th.

​

We are pairing generous donors like you with HOW students to fill their back-to-school supply needs. Children and teens who have experienced housing instability and homelessness face many challenges in keeping up with school work and achieving good grades, but together we can make sure they have all of the materials they need to succeed!

 

Here’s how to get involved:

 

1. Adopt a Student

​

Please complete this form to adopt a student. Once you do so, someone from our team will pair you with a student, and email you additional instructions.

​

All donations must be dropped off or mailed to HOW's Rogers Park Office (1607 W Howard, 3rd floor Chicago, IL  60626) by no later than August 23rd. This will allow us enough time to distribute the supplies in advance of the start of the school year. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of HOW students!

2. Make a Monetary Donation

​

HOW will use monetary donations to shop for school supplies for children not matched with a donor. Send a check payable to Housing Opportunities for Women or make a donation online today! Please click the checkbox next to "I would like to dedicate this donation" and type "Adopt a Student" in the dedication line so we know how you'd like us to use your gift. Thank you for your generosity!

3. Donate School Supplies

​

Help HOW fill backpacks by donating school supplies (or even better, backpacks filled with supplies)! All accept supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.

 

  • Donations can be made online by purchasing items from HOW's Amazon wishlist.

  • Donations can be dropped off (with an appointment) or mailed to HOW's offices:
